Digital Life Essay: Fieldwork in progress


This first screen shot is from my room mate Jamie. She loves to learn about this specific murder case, and Netflix can track this. Netflix knows that this film will be a "97%" match to Jamie's interest. She did not search this movie, but it popped up on her Netflix application.





These are the two result pages between my phone and Jamie's phone when the same terms "mental health awareness month" are searched. (Jamie's first and mine second)






Recently, I "liked" a page called Vegetarian Tasty, and today this advertisement popped up. Facebook could track that I had liked a similar page and is trying to make me like this page as well which is an example of nudging.
Another example of this occurred a few weeks ago, so I do not have a screen capture. I had searched for a specific watch on amazon on my phone, and the same day I saw advertisements for the same watch on my facebook page on my computer! (NUDGING)

This is my "recommended" page on Youtube. All of these things have direct connection to something I like. I noticed that two videos are also there including the name of my high school, which is extremely interesting. I don't remember looking up my high school anytime in the recent past.
